So what is "it"? "It" is the blacklist relays.ordb.org, and it was announced a long time ago, that they were closing down. So some e-mails didn't get to my server. Since I am using a private whitelist, it wasn't immediately obvious that e-mail was bouncing, since some e-mails got through.

As Chris puts it:
This is simply a reminder to lazy or incompetent administrators to manage their use of DNSBLs actively. You can't just define once a list of DNSBL zones you want to use for email blocking and then leave it unmaintained.
Now, does this make me lazy or incompetent? Lazy, I think.

Anyway, now it's fixed, and e-mail is flowing as it should again. If anyone has been sending e-mail to me during the last couple of days, and got a bounce message back, please try again.

The problem seems to be that a security fix in Firefox created this behaviour, and it is not something that Mozilla intends to fix. It is considered a feature, and not a bug. Domino will send a .jar file with the wrong MIME type (application/octet-stream which shoould be application/java-archive). IBM has been notified of the problem, and is hopefully woking on a long term fix. That will probably take time, though, so what can we do in the meantime?

We can fix it ourselves!

It's actually quite easy to fix the problem, but for those of you that has plenty of Domino servers, it will still take some time. Here's what you do:

  1. Locate the file httpd (could also be named httpd.cnf, if I understand it correctly) in the Domino data directory.
  2. Add the line "AddType .jar application/java-archive # Java Archive" where you feel is appropriate.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Restart the server. It might be enough to "tell http quit" and "load http" on the console, but I haven't tried this.
  5. Tell any Firefox user to clear the cache before using DWA (iNotes).

Anyways, I haven't really payed much attention to the different social networking sites. I merely joined when someone else invited me, at least when I was invited by someone I knew... So far, I have joined three sites: XING, Linkedin and facebook.

XING: I don't really care for XING, it doesn't seem to be a very good site. I have one contact there, Thomas Adrian, and that will probably be it.
Linkedin: I actually like this site. It's easy to use and easy to search, and there seems to be a lot of people using the site.
facebook: I haven't really decided if I like this one or not. I will probably stay on here, since some of my contacts doesn't want to use any other social networking site. I even managed to convince my wife that she should register there...

Lately, I've tried to be more active, and have invited people myself. Some has accepted, while others have declined. If you would like to connect to me on Linkedin or facebook, please feel free to ask.
