31 days...2008-08-23 11:38 Personal

31 days ago, I quit smoking... Some days are better than others, and some days are worse than others. The need for nicotine is controllable with nicotine chewing gum. The habit is harder to kick. I do my best to control it with ordinary chewing gum, and basically anything eatable I can get my hands on. The mood can be really low some days. The motivation is still going strong, though.

This is about me. Well, more or less anyway.

I've had a hectic time these past months, and haven't really had time for anything at all. I have hardly been keeping up with the blogs I usually read, not to mention adding to my own blog.
It all started by the end of march, when my father-in-law became ill. On april 6th, me and my wife practically forced him to the hospital. We got the diagnosis on april 11th. He had a brain tumour. Of course, the doctors couldn't tell us much about it, and my father-in-law denied any treatment for it. Being of sound mind when he made this decision, we accepted this. We took him home again, and he was much better for a couple of weeks. After that, he became very tired and slept almost around the clock for a week. At the end of that week we felt that it was time to take him back to the hospital again. A week later, on may 8th, he died, still in the hospital.
Since then, we have had our hands full with the funeral, putting his affairs in order, cleaning out his house so we can sell it. On top of this, I've had a very stressful project at work, where one remote access solution were replace with another remote access solution that wasn't ready for deployment. It's not a perfect situation...
I'm not sure when things will get back to normal again, but it will probably be a while longer.

Out cold...2006-03-08 13:35 Personal
So I have been sick for a while, and haven't really been able to participate in SnTT since my first contribution. Coming back to work was a bit overwhelming in terms of the amount of work that hadn't been done while I was away, so I just had to dive in and sort it out.
As soon as I have caught up with things, I'll be back again.
