So this is the new year? So far, it looks pretty much like the old year. Hopefully, it will be a better one, though.

So what happened last year?
The biggest thing for me was that I quit smoking. More important than that, though, is that I'm still not smoking! I don't even have a need for nicotine any longer. I was doing the nicotine chewing gums, but just lost my craving for nicotine a couple of months ago. I still feel that it would be nice to have a smoke from time to time, but it's very easily controllable. I'm still motivated, and having come this far, I definitely don't want to give up now. Today is non-smoking day 168.

There was a lot more that happened last year, but that's history now. Let's keep the focus on what we're going to do in 2009.

There's a new (at least for me) site up, which is an aggregator of a lot of Lotus community bloggers. It is called Planet Lotus. In addition to being an aggregator, it also has a filter system, so that it tries to filter out anything that isn't really about Lotus from the blogs. The site is currently tracking 131 blogs, and was created by Yancy Lent.

Let's not forget about the DominoBlogs.com site as well.

So I finally took the time to update my blogroll. It was about time.

So I finally upgraded Blogsphere from version 2.1 to version 2.5.6. Resaved the configuration document, and now it seems to work as it should. Had to go through the configuration to see what was new in there, and to change some of the defaults to my liking. I'm curious to see how it will work.

Well, that's it for the Banana Home web site. I have finally closed it down. All of the content have been moved over to the blog, except for the files. They will be moved later, though, when I can move them into the blog. I did leave replacement pages on the web site, if anyone should link directly to them, that will point any users to the blog instead.

Having run the web site as the primary start page for www.bananahome.com ever since I registered the domain, I have now moved most of the web site over to the blog to have one less site to take care of. I still have some of it left to do, but I'll get around to that later. I hope you will still be able to find your way around the site.

...in the Lotus blog community today...

Everyone is on the way, or preparing to get on the way, in planes, trains and automobiles. People getting ready for a week of mingling, parties, sessions and more parties. People packing their bags with anything and everything they might need for the week, making sure that laptops and PDA's are charged and equipped with working wireless networking devices.

I have never had the opportunity to go to Lotusphere, but I hope I'll get the chance in the future.

To all of you that are going: Have fun and let the rest of us know what is happening during the week!

So, at last I'm entering into the world of blogging... Kind of spooky, actually...

I have had my homepage up since 1998, in Squirrel's Corner , and now I'm blogging under my second domain, bananahome.com. I've been reading other people's blogs for some time now, as you can see by my BlogRoll, so it's going to be fun doing one myself.

I got the BlogSphere template from OpenNTF.org just this last week, took a couple of days to figure it out and make the design my own. Also had to help both my brother and my wife start up their own blogs, so as it turns out, both of them beat me to it
